It may come as a surprise to some that Acid Drinkers have been going since the mid 80s and have passed somewhat under the radar, on UK shores anyway. A Polish band who have had great success in their homeland, this is the 14th full-length release from them.

On the whole, Verses of Steel has a very modern style Thrash sound, very up-tempo interspersed with screaming solos reminiscent of something Kerry King of Slayer would produce. Every note is played with fantastic precision and the whole thing sounds tight as hell from start to finish.

The thing that is strange about the album is the vocals, they seem to range from sounding quite impressive to slightly daft, it is cringe-worthy at times as the music sounds really decent and then these bizarre vocals kick in! It definitely makes things a bit unpredictable as there are lots of unexpected twists and turns to each track, sometimes things sound quite hardcore and serious and at other times quite groovy and almost chirpy!

Overall, when the pace picks up and the metal is in full flow this album sounds great but at times things just veer off down a path which may leave some people rather lost.
